Born to sparkle

A new breed of cushion cut diamonds is about to hit the market...

After many years of development and countless sleepless nights at the lab, Leon Megé is proud to introduce our latest creation: The Dynasty Cut Collection.

Cut with a small table and a higher crown, but with an emphasis on brilliance and fire, our exclusive cut is 20% brighter than antique cushion diamonds with large facets.

Stones are available in one to two carat sizes and feature a laser engraved girdle with the Dynasty™ logo.

Due to unforeseen demand we are currently taking orders on stones larger than 1.20 carat. Please contact our This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it for details.

Cushion Modified Brilliant Faceted Diamond

Gemstone for consistent light performance The present facet design successfully combines both a standard brilliant cut crown and a modified 8 main brilliant cut pavilion.

Cushion Modified Brilliants (CMBs) are not new in the diamond cutting art but due to the lack of any standardization they are usually cut to a wide range of proportions and parameters, which results in a wide array of appearances. This makes it almost impossible to find consistently cut CMBs on the open market and are an extremely difficult task for jewelers to design jewelry with.

The present CMB facet design was framed by applying a specific formula to the facet shapes, sizes and angles to purposely deliver a consistent and beautiful CMB which displays high Light Performance (LP).  LP results are clearly noticed in the AGSL’s   Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool (ASET)

This specific facet design further incorporates a tall crown height combined with steeper crown angles, resulting in a small table. Based on our research and experience it adds significant fire and larger reflective flashes distributed evenly throughout the whole crown area of the diamond face. Another visual effect appears when these crown proportions are applied which most industry professionals don’t account for the called “sculpture” effect. This is a three dimensional visual of the “Dynasty Cut” which in our opinion is an important optical property and a reminiscence of the old fashion cuts that were cut throughout History.

The pavilion is designed to act as an 8 main facet pavilion vs. the more common 4 main facet designs, which are more freely available on the open markets. The 8 main pavilion facets are cut to extreme stringent angles to achieve the maximum allowed LP to complement this cut. Modifications were added to the pavilion facet structure to evenly display primary light return (red in ASET) throughout the crown area of the cut.

Lastly, this design incorporates a medium sized polished culet. There are a few functions a polished culet serves when purposely cut on a diamond. One function is being part of the visual design which is called the “Kozibe” effect. This is a reflected spread of the faceted culet visible through the eight main crown facets and table facet as commonly found in antique cut diamonds.  Most importantly, it is a durability feature. Pointed culets are prone to chipping and would require a full re-cut of the diamond at subject in case of a chipped culet. Due to the high precision of this cut, it is simple to retouch the diamond with a medium-sized open culet in the case a culet is chipped. Other conventional cuts make it much more difficult. Thirdly, a polished culet is a sign of craftsmanship; the visual symmetry of a faceted culet will easily reveal the overall craftsmanship of the cut. Furthermore, since the “Dynasty Cut” has a smaller culet, there is less light leakage.
