Your stones are covered (with certain limitations and restrictions, of course) for loss or damage while they are in our possession, as well as while we work on them.
This is a relatively new development, in the past it was impossible to obtain a coverage for damage done while a stone being worked on. In part due to our outstanding reputation, in part due to more flexibility in market conditions, our carrier agreed to add a bench clause to the coverage. |
There are millions of legal disclaimers and restrictions regarding any insurance policies, ours as well, but the main concern you should have is whether the reputation and skills of your jeweler are high enough for you to trust and rely upon. Thus far, we never had any incidents involving anything more than few scratches on extremely soft stones like aquamarines or emeralds. Scratches like that are unfortunate of course, but they are easily polished off with minimum or no weight loss. We have set literally hundreds of these stones valued sometimes in millions of dollars each. |
