Rules of engagement

An engagement is not a simple matter.

First you need to find a partner. There is nothing we can do in order to assist you with this task. You are on your own!

Getting an engagement ring on the other hand has to be neither complicated nor difficult.

Sometimes people make erroneous assumptions picked up from a kid doing part time at a closeout mall store. Insidious "education" is copied and pasted from one web site "vendor" to another. Sometimes our clients like or dislike a certain design for a wrong reason, and it's our mission to explain, educate and help to decide. Our job is not simply make the ring you desire but understand, analyze and interpret your wishes in a way that benefits you the most.

Most Leon Mege rings can be made with either a classic cathedral shank or a modern uniform shank. Both shanks are engineered to provide maximum comfort and balance. The Leon Mege signature pinched shank, suitable for pointy stones such as pears or bullets is designed to provide the most graceful contour to the ring.

making_hand_forged_ring_Leon_MegeLeon Mege takes great pride in craftsmanship that dates back to European traditions and executed today by the world’s finest jewelers.

All our pieces are made from scratch - we do not use computer generated casting.

  • Overview of casting process will be available here [coming really soon...]
  • Overview of CAD-CAM "scam" will be available here [coming soon...]
  • Overview of "hand forged" claims well be available here [coming soon...]

We use hand forged stock - square rod, plate, wire, hand drawn tubing to create our pieces. Average ring consists of 20-40 individual parts, each carefully crafted from raw stock, pre-polished and later assembled in a finished ring. Sometimes it takes several tries to get things right, if any of the parts are found to be less than perfect in a preliminary examination they will be scrapped and replaced with new ones.

That's why we ask you for ample time to complete your project, human error is unpredictable and we need to be able to go back and start from scratch without feeling the pressure of a deadline.

In order to fully appreciate the value of Leon Mege ring, it is important to understand the intricate process that has been used to make generations of Leon Mege pieces.

The superior quality diamonds, alloys, traditional manufacturing techniques and attention to every detail guarantee a piece that will remain timeless for generations to come.

All our pieces are hand forged from 95% ruthenium alloyed cobalt-free platinum. The alloy contains 95.5% of pure platinum. This is by far the most desirable, hard and dense platinum alloy that exists in the world. Any other platinum alloy would be rejected by our European clients and would not be acceptable.

Small stones (melee) we use in pave are all ideal cut, full cut brilliants (or upgraded to premium single cuts) are sorted to be within a range of E-G color and VS or VVS clarity. With rare exceptions we resist to request of using lower color melee.

All our pieces are set using powerful, advanced, optical microscopes under high magnification which intensity makes visible even minute faults and imperfections.
