3.05 ct Padparadscha Sapphire 006523
Description
Padparadsha
Sometimes spelled Padparaschah, a Sinhalese word meaning "color of lotus flower.” The color is a mix of pinkish and orange hues found almost exclusively in Sri Lanka. Other locales like Vietnam, Madagascar and Tanzania usually yield material suitable for heat treatment which tends to produce richer “papaya” hues. Original unheated Ceylon padparadschas with zoned mix of tender pinks and oranges fetch “ruby” prices for the finest specimens.
Padparadscha sapphires may be less known to the general public, however, they are prized by gemstone experts. The extreme scarcity of padparadscha rough makes this one of the stones that you do not want to miss the chance of getting it!
