A bench made platinum  wedding band ring is the ultimate in European style. It's mathematically derived anticlastic profile (sometimes called "kidney-shape") creates parabolic effect by bouncing the light between polished edges. The curvature of "comfort-fit" shank allows  maximum comfort without the bulging usually associated with traditional wedding bands.

At Leon Mege all of our rings are forged by hand at the bench by a specially trained  jeweler.  In the process of making a platinum wedding band a high density and superior luster can only be achieved by forging (compressing) metal by hand rolling or hammering. The great majority of commercial wedding band production is done by methods far inferior to hand forging. A computer controlled, continuously fed, industrial lathe is used to slice the platinum tubing at a high speed. The tubing itself is produced by pouring liquid metal into a form in a process called casting. Casting the bands directly from the mold is the fastest and cheapest way of making crude jewelry that looks presentable but has the density of a cardboard box at its core. Even bands sold at high end jewelry stores whose brands are synonymous with jewelry itself are made by these methods.Our wedding bands are painstakingly formed  from a cold rolled platinum stock by using traditional hand tools. The difference in the precision and luxurious sheen is subtle yet obvious to a discerning consumer. But what makes our classic wedding bands particularly stand out is the unique proprietary profile of the band where each curvature is carefully devised.
